I don't know if it's me, but this place looks very delusional lately. [1]

Hi. I’m Church of Bruce. I’ve been here a very long time, on and off. I’ve seen lots of shifts around here over the years. But the one I’ve seen lately baffles me.
Right now, on the front page, there’s a story about the SCOTUS leaving a little crumb about buffer zones. (Which, it even says in the article, doesn’t mean much because the DOJ isn’t prosecuting violators.) There’s an article about Trumpers calling in to right-wing radio complaining about DOGE, as if that matters. I got in an argument with someone yesterday, who kept quoting laws at me. All kinds of, “See? There are cracks in the armor!”
No. There are not.
Also, there’s all kinds of comments about, “We’re better than that,” “We can’t sink to their level,” and so on. I got a warning because I used a derogatory term about Trumpers. You know, yay civility.
Don’t you people realize that civility will get us absolutely nowhere?
Let me lay it on the line. We lost. It’s over. And I’m not talking about an election, I’m talking about America. It’s done. Rule of law? Done. Democracy? Done.
You want to keep America as we know it? You’d better arm up, because civil war is coming. Look, I’m 60 and not in good health. I’ve never fired a gun in my life and couldn’t right now because I just had surgery on both hands. (I must really want to get this screed off my chest because typing HURTS. Ow.) But, once my hands heal, I’m getting weapons.
If you don’t see this, I don’t know what to tell you. Hey, maybe you’ll come to this diary in a couple of years and get to tell me how wrong I was—and I will be absolutely THRILLED I was wrong. Don’t get me wrong, as an old fat diabetic with surgically-repaired hands, I’m probably the first casualty. I don’t want it. But I see it coming. And I see a lot of people, including too many people here and WAY too many office holders with a D after their names, are completely clueless. Hakeem Jeffries thinks we can win by going after fellow democrats for, as usual, not being civil enough. It’s nuts.
I live in a solidly blue state. I don’t think that protects me at all. Except that my governor, and other Blue governors, may cause the civil war by resisting. Mills, Pritzker, and Newsome, especially, have been tough and resolute in trying to push back on this shit—but, I fear, that’s only going to put them on the casualty list next to me.
It’s us or them. And I’m amazed more people don’t see it.
