Who Is The Coup? [1]

These are certainly interesting times. While our nation has faced other periods that have been generally similar none have advanced as far. The Business plot in the early 1930s, for instance, fizzled before it flamed and the earlier T Roosevelt administration took on the Trusts in their day.
So, what are Citizens dealing with today?
We know some names as the media loves personifications of villains and heroes. Easy to create basic stories, easier to avoid inconveniences.
Yet if Citizens consider our self identified elites as a class a clearer picture emerges.
The Homeland has 813 billionaires by latest count. That number increased from 756 in the previous yearly count. There were none when Reagan first took office.
One percent of our population controls 49.6 Trillion dollars or almost 31% of our national wealth.
The median income for Citizens, adjusted for taxes and inflation, is $40K
Ok, a rough basic picture but what can we say? The wealthy, however defined, always run the show. In doing so they will frequently overreach and the fundamental role of democracy is to bring them back in line. Wherever that line happens to be. The obvious problem is who determines the line.
The gross inequality with which Citizens are ( or should be) familiar is the result of decades spent restructuring our social contract. All the remaining safeguards are being dismantled. Our laws have been rewritten to favor a small class and politicians, with remarkably few exceptions, have sold us out.
Our self identified elites however, have created their own problems. At this point they are of necessity all in.
Failing now will very possibly result in there being NO billionaires in the Homeland. Those Trillions of national wealth will go back to Citizens.
Even worse from their perspective is the possibility of reining in corporate behavior. A return to basics would result in blocking the acquisition and hoarding of great wealth along with associated power for generations.
Like it or not Citizens are playing for all the marbles right now. Our self identified elites cannot afford to lose. They will likely destroy what the cannot rule.
Citizens have to make sure they lose
Before we can effectively engage the enemies of democracy we must know and understand them. Citizens are not engaging individuals but an entire class of people and the social structures they control, the laws they have written and the force they direct.
Citizens acting in opposition have the strength of overwhelming numbers. That alone is not enough. In fact without the will to act it means nothing.
No one gets to sit this out. The only choice we have is choosing a side.
