Empty Greene Says Federal Workers Don't Deserve to be Paid [1]

Once again, Empty Greene lives down to that nickname. At a House committee hearing to discuss Trump-Musk terminating thousands of federal employees, Illinois Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi mentioned the Postal Service and how the proposed changes could "potentially throw trillions of dollars of ecommerce transactions into turmoil” and added that "No private sector entity provides universal service across the nation, and without these letter carriers and others, more than 51.5 million households and businesses especially in rural communities would have no guaranteed delivery."
Well, Greene just couldn’t let that go unchallenged. Marjorie Taylor Greene States That Federal Employees 'Do Not Deserve' Their Paychecks in Defense of DOGE Cuts:
"You can protest all you want outside of departments of this government, you can protest all you want, but the American people disagree with you. You're protecting the bureaucracy. The bureaucracy is not a business. Those are not real jobs producing federal revenue. By the way, they're consuming taxpayer dollars," she said. "Those jobs are paid for by the American people who work real jobs, earn real income, pay federal taxes and then pay these federal employees. Federal employees do not deserve their jobs. Federal employees do not deserve their paycheck, and these are jobs that can be fired at will," she continued.
That’s “federal employees” without qualification. Greene herself is a federal employee, obviously, but asking for logic from these cretins is like asking for some green(e) cheese from the moon.
She is correct on one point, though: The bureaucracy is not a business. Nor should it be. Businesses exist to make a profit for their shareholders. Governments do not operate on the profit motive, at least not under our Constitution.
Yes, I know, a quaint sentiment in the Age of Mump and Trusk. Ah, but wait until Greene needs something like, oh, I don’t know, her paycheck? Or a visa for some relative? (BTW, the consular division of the State Department is the only one that does pay for itself, through visa and other fees.) How about Capitol security? You get the idea, even if she doesn’t.
