Yesterday Forbes Daily Briefing called Elon Musk a "federal welfare vampire". Forbes is not exactly a bastion of liberalism, so this piece caught my eye. Link to video here.
According to the video clip, Elon has benefited from 30 billion dollars in federal money to support and grow his business. The clip stated that Musk has been "one of the largest beneficiaries of government support, ever". and "...Musk's decades-long reliance on government funds to grow and enrich his own companies is a bit dissonant."
Most Americans know (I hope) that the federal government forms the foundational support for business as well as all of our lives. Now with his “chainsaw” approach, it is extremely clear that Musk only wants support for himself at the expense of other people's lives and livelihoods.
I thought the piece was surprising, because I assumed that Forbes was firmly in Donald Trump's pocket.
While the editor in chief of Forbes is Steve Forbes, the magazine is 51% owned by Hong Kong based Integrated Whale Media Investments, so there is that. Forbes.com has also been criticized for enabling "pay to play journalism".
I feel the markets will be the business community’s final arbiter of this shocking "government reset" that is now underway.
