Latest From Behind Enemy Lines At The Deep State: I Didn't Respond To Musk's Email Because... [1]

Merlin here reporting from behind enemy lines for THE DEEP STATE (OK. This lone federal employee who’s ass is hanging out in the wind and not the deep state). You might be wondering if I sent my five bullet points of tasks from last week to Musk’s cyber flying monkeys at OPM. Did I scream, “Give Me Liberty, or Give Me Death!” while not complying with the order from that South African Fuhrer? Did I meekly surrender and dutifily reported every little thing I did to OPM? Did the upper management of the Census Bureau protect me from the clutches of Musk’s grasp, or did they throw me under the bus like RFK Jr. did to HHS?

I didn’t respond to Musk’s assholes at OPM because I never got the email.

You might be thinking, “How the hell did that happen?” To be honest, the Census Bureau has been receiving all of OPM’s emails late. The legacy media broadcasts the contents of the OPM emails several DAYS before I ever receive them. Therefore, I think the Occam’s Razor explanation is that the boys at OPM may not be the hacker geniuses that some on the fascists think they are.

In other words, these assholes do not know how the government works, and they cannot get a simple email blast out to ALL FEDERAL WORKERS!

Now before you think my tale is done, there is more to this sordid story.

I tried today to obtain any information about this stupid fucking OPM email from my supervisor. I didn’t see it at all today while working, so I decided to send an email to my supervisor asking if she had gotten it. I was trying to figure out if maybe there was a problem with my government email account.

She told me that no one she knew at the Census Bureau had receive the OPM email, and she had no other news than that. I surmised that my email account must be OK. “So what gives?” I wondered with Musk’s nasty email demand?

I even checked my email account after my work shift was over, and I found an email from a higher up at my facility. The title was “Do Not Reply All To The Following.” I was curious, so opened it. The email was this longer thread, but the first one at the start said “Do Not Reply All To Emails With The Following Addresses,” and a list was provided. I won’t go into what the emails are, but they are internal of course. I kept wondering, “What’s with those specific email addresses?”

I managed to go to the bottom email in the thread and work my way back up. And the start of the thread appeared to be an inquiry to someone in upper management asking, “I haven’t got the OPM email, so what do I do?” The higher up stated that if you didn’t receive the OPM email asking for 5 tasks you did last week, you do not need to send an email to your supervisor or OPM with those tasks.” In other words, no OPM email, no reply necessary.

OK. So upper management at the Census Bureau is taking the “centrist” approach with regards to Musk’s demands. Do nothing. No defiance, but no capitulation either. Very D.C. villager of them.

So why not send that email out to everyone and not just one person who asked? And what’s with that “Do Not Reply All” email? I was confused for a moment.

Then, I saw the email where “Reply All” was selected. And I laughed. Seems that someone else at the Census Bureau was PISSED that we received this guidance from management at the last possible moment (exact quote on that last part!). And this person hit “Reply All” with this message.

It was cathartic to be honest. We at the Census Bureau are treated like mushrooms when it comes to information regarding work policies or why we may not be getting enough hours on any assignment. We are kept in the dark while shit is thrown on us.

Another lovely example is the remote work policy. I’m not complaining, but I am still on remote work. In fact, I’m thrilled to be so. However, I’ve received the nasty Musk emails to get my ass back into the office, despite what my union contract states.

Are we exempt at the Census Bureau from the return to office order? None of us plebeians know. Are we ever going to get more work hours (it’s been sporadic at best since the Republicans took over the House). It’s been “hinted at” in one email from upper management that there are budgetary issues. Like what? No one tells us.

The long and short of all of this is that to the OPM flying monkeys we at the Census Bureau are some kind of afterthought, at least I think this might be the case. We don’t do vaccines or necessary medical research, which makes anyone who does that kind of work for the government a high value target for termination. I’ve volunteered to help FEMA out during hurricane season, but Trump wants to eliminate FEMA, which actually helps people. Therefore, FEMA is high on the Musk/Trump shit list I’m not with the FBI, which if you are not a storm trooper for Trump you are fucked.

We just count people at the Census Bureau.

Oh, the other reason for Musk’s email to all federal employees has been reported. Musk does plan to dump all the emails replies into an AI program to further determine if the work being done is “essential.” In other words, a lot more people are going to lose their jobs.
