And this act of Resistance is well-worth remembering, as the chaotic DOGE calendar keeps wrecking lives, destroying missions of Congressionally-established Agencies (like those Postal Service “slackers;” like those Park Service “fraudsters;” like many more ad nauseam).

All the while, another more important calendar (Fiscal) is rapidly approaching its ‘moment of truth’ expiry date [3/14/2025] ...

LEADER JEFFRIES: “THE HOUSE REPUBLICAN BUDGET PLAN IS A CONTRACT AGAINST AMERICA”

Washington, DC – Today [Jan 23,2025], Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries held a press conference where he emphasized that House Democrats will continue to push back against Republican efforts to increase costs on everyday Americans through their extreme budget plan.

LEADER JEFFRIES: Good morning, everyone. House Republicans can no longer hide their intentions from the American people. Their extreme budget plan is out. It’s a 50-page document. I have it in my hands, and it’s available to all of the American people to read. The House Republican budget plan is a Contract Against America. It will hurt working families, hurt the middle class, hurt our children, hurt our seniors and hurt our veterans. The House Republican Contract Against America will end Medicaid as we know it, destroy the Affordable Care Act and eliminate the mortgage interest deduction, which will raise costs on tens of millions of working-class and middle-class Americans. The House Republican Contract Against America is an extreme plan that will not lower costs for everyday Americans, it will make our country more expensive. House Democrats will oppose this extreme Contract Against America, and we will push back against it on behalf of everyday Americans with every fiber in our body.

Full press conference can be watched here.

In that press conference, Jeffries draws several “clear lines” in the sand:

[YouTube Transcript, 14:15]

Hakeem Jeffries: I've not had any communication with the president or the incoming Administration on the issue of the GOP Tax scam. Here's what we know: This document the Republican Contract Against America, the reason why it exists, the reason why there are so many extreme cuts in the GOP Contract Against America, including ending Medicaid as we know it, eliminating the Mortgage Interest Deduction, and slashing and burning the Affordable Care Act, is because extreme MAGA Republicans in the House, who put out this document, want to enact massive tax cuts for billionaires and wealthy corporations, and stick working class Americans with the bill . We're not down with that approach. Can I say it any clearer?

I take that to mean, Mouse Speaker Mike Johnson will not get any Democratic support, with their “Tax scam” Budget Bill. Especially in the draconian way it is currently incarnated.

Congress is almost five months behind in passing a final spending agreement for FY25 and has been relying on a series of CRs to extend funding for the federal government and avoid a government shutdown. The next CR deadline is March 14, at which point Congress will need to either pass a final spending bill, enact another CR to extend federal funding again, or face a partial shutdown of the federal government. nlihc.org

[Update: Jeffries just spoke on The Rachel Maddow Show tonight, where he stated that the first vote on the Budget Plan could happen as early as tomorrow. He also expects all Dems to vote against it. Rachel said that at least 1 Republican is already against the GOP Bill.]

Tick-Tock, you billionaire butt-kissers. Your Trump 2.0 rerun of the 1.0 Trump give-away to the upper-crust, will have to be passed all on your own . The Democratic coalition wants no part of it.

PS. Nikki Haley was right. That Trump 1.0 Tax Give-away fiasco IS what put us on the current National Debt dicey trajectory , more anything other exogenous event.

Instead of paying down our National Debt and balancing the budget, the Trump 1.0 Tax Scam team ran up the national Credit Card to the MAX … which they ARE NOW USING as the rationale for all the illegal Federal Firing we are seeing today.

How Much Did President Trump Add to the Debt

www.crfb.org — Jan 10, 2024

In the recent GOP primary presidential debate, former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley claimed that President Trump added $8 trillion to the national debt [...] A better way to measure how much President Trump added to the debt is to evaluate the ten-year debt impact of the laws and executive orders he signed. We estimate that those added a combined $8.4 trillion to the debt over a ten-year period – consistent with Haley’s claim.

We’’ll take more of that Fiscal Malfeasance, please … Ahh, yeah, NO!

= = = = = = = =

Oh, BTW GOP: The simplest way to find that “all important” $2 Trillion bucks the DOGE is lying its ass-off, pretending to find — The simplest way to balance the National Budget is to get rid of (or seriously scale-back) the top line-item in the 2025 Budget Plan Table (below):
