Itzl Alert Network: Tuesday, 25th of February, 2025: Flip the Senate! [1]

['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.']

Date: 2025-02-24

I am fired up and ready to go!

In the last two weeks, I posted all the House seats we need to flip from red to blue.

Now I have the list of the Senate seats we need to flip from red to blue.

Let’s Go!

The little dog is named Itzl. As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at, to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wildfires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off Daily Kos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on Daily Kos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care! IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news! This is our current schedule of regular IAN diary writers: Monday: Youffraita Tuesday: bigjacbigjacbigjac Wednesday: Pam from Calif Thursday: art ah zen Friday: FloridaSNMOM Saturday: FloridaSNDad Sunday: loggersbrat

Here is the link to the Senate:

en.wikipedia.org/…

For the House, all the seats are up for grabs every two years.

For the Senate, that is not the case.

They have the Senate seats grouped into Class 1, Class 2, and Class 3.

In each even numbered year, about one third of the Senate seats are up for grabs.

For the upcoming elections in 2026, it is Class 2 up for grabs.

So, I listed all the red seats in Class 2.

And here we go!

(Those numbers I posted after each name are not those class numbers; they are just there to make it easy to count how many red seats we can flip in 2026.)

And here we go!

Alabama

Tommy Tuberville 1

Alaska

Dan Sullivan 2

Arkansas

Tom Cotton 3

Florida

Ashley Moody 4

Idaho

Jim Risch 5

Iowa

Joni Ernst 6

Kansas

Roger Marshall 7

Kentucky

Mitch McConnell 8

Louisiana

Bill Cassidy 9

Maine

Susan Collins 10

Mississippi

Cindy Hyde-Smith 11

Montana

Steve Daines 12

Nebraska

Pete Ricketts 13

North Carolina

Thom Tillis 14

Ohio

Jon Husted 15

Oklahoma

Markwayne Mullin 16

South Carolina

Lindsey Graham 17

South Dakota

Mike Rounds 18

Tennessee

Bill Hagerty 19

Texas

John Cornyn 20

West Virginia

Shelley Moore Capito 21

Wyoming

Cynthia Lummis 22

I put the numbers after the names to make it easy to count how many red Senate seats we can flip blue.

22

Our team currently holds 47 seats in the Senate.

(45 Democrats plus 2 Independents that caucus with Democrats.)

So, we could end up with 69 blue seats in the senate.

Ha!

I know that Mitch McConnell announced he is not running for re-election.

I typed his name to list his seat, that we need to flip.

Whoever the Republicans nominate to run for his seat will not be as well-known or well liked as McConnell.

So, our Democratic nominee might truly stand a chance to flip that seat.

Ha!

This image has been the most colorful news image lately:

I always like the fighting attitude of this lady:

James Carville has a bold prediction:

So, we Democrats include angry voters at town hall meetings, and classy folks like Jasmine Crockett, and the rest of us can just play possum, according to James Carville.

Well, take care of yourselves and those you are closely involved with.

And play possum in your spare time.

Hugs!
