Writing to Senators to help Ukraine -- It's easy ! [1]

I have lots of obligations with my family and our businesses, but I really needed to take 2 hours today to email 27 members of the Senate Armed Forces Committee to try to stimulate some serious help for Ukraine. I have no illusions about the impact one letter will make, yet I need to _do_ something, and if I can stimulate some of you follow my example, maybe we can have an effect.

Emailing Senators is fairly easy, they don’t give out their addresses but they all have a form for emails, they do ask for your name and address and phone and email, I was honest about not being in their state but I did make a mistake on my phone number just to avoid any fund-raisng calls in campaign season. You just have to search for “Senator (last name),” google will usually come up with an ”Office” or even a “contact” or “email” option. I’ve got my messages on copy and paste, once you get the feel of it you can get each senator in a couple of minutes, erase that name in your search bar and type in the next name.

Republican Senators got the following message:

“Your would-be “king” Donald is appearing increasingly demented, is he also a Russian agent? Do you wish to be known as a Russian agent?

Can you please help organize and be part of a 51-Senator caucus that will speak loudly and vote firmly to continue generously supporting Ukraine and refuse to lift Russian sanctions or invite them to G7?

Please help us avoid the worst foreign policy disaster in American history, a shameful appeasement that will disgrace America’s name forever. Forcing Ukraine to accept an unfair peace is a mistake that will be tied to a cowardly and stupid Republican Party forever.”

The Democrats on the Committee got this message:

“Trump and his cult are crooks and criminals, is Trump also a Russian agent? Can you find a few Republicans who still believe in NATO and Europe, who believe in supporting our friends?

Can you please help organize and be part of a 51-Senator caucus that will speak loudly and vote firmly to continue generously supporting Ukraine and refuse to lift Russian sanctions or invite them to G7?

Please help us avoid the worst foreign policy disaster in American history, a shameful appeasement that will disgrace America’s name forever and weaken all our alliances and promises. Please remind your Republican colleagues that the shame of betraying Ukraine will be tied around their necks politically for a very long time.”

And I will use a few minutes of my time to save you a few minutes of yours, here’s the list of the Senators on the Armed Forces Committee (with their states). Wicker the Chairman is apparently one of the few Republicans who has been openlu supportive of Ukraine. I think I’ll also email the old Turtle McConnell, I know he’s evil and despicable but he has been willing to vote against some of Trump’s biggest nonsense, and maybe some other Senators as well.

Republicans: Wicker MS, Fischer NE, Cotton AR, Rounds SD, Ernst IA, Sullivan AK, Cramer ND, Scott FL, Tuberville AL, Mullin OK, Schmitt MO, Banks IN, Sheehy MT

Democrats:

Reed RI, Shaheen NH, Gillibrand NY, Blumenthal CT, Hirono HI, King ME, Kaoine VA, King ME, Warren MA, Peters MI, Duckworth IL Rosen NV, Kelly AZ, Slotkin MI

So let’s do it ! Let’s see if we can make some noise, stimulate one of these Senators to take a stand. The Donald is trying to take one of the most drastic and potentially deadly sudden foreign policy moves in America’s history, abandoning Ukraine, trying to ally with Russia instead, and force the Ukraine to accept a few years of “peace” while Putin re-arms to attack them again. Russia is already making threats against Poland and the Baltic nations, waging a “pre-war” campaign of aggression against all of democratic Europe, with spies and sabotage and waves of disinformation on social media.

Is it really too difficult to support our friends? Is there any rational reason for Trump to be trying to support Russia ? The situation on the ground is still unclear, Ukraine is contemplating their response, the next few weeks are crucial. Getting 51 Senators who say they want to keep supplying Ukraine with the aid they need to survive could be the only obstacle that can block the evil plans of Trump and Putin.

For what it’s worth, I also have high-class no clickbait website exploring deeper issues in history and human development, getting nice global traffic, and I believe I had one of the first (and still most cogent) warnings of Trump’s plans to surrender to Russia back in November.
