The New York Times is reporting that MSNBC is dropping Joy Reid from its lineup, replacing her 7 PM slot with a three-anchor panel of Symone Sanders Townsend, Michael Steele and Alicia Mendez. MSNBC didn’t provide any reason for dropping the show, but other changes are reported to be forthcoming, including replacing Alex Wagner — who was supposed to resume her 4-days per week role as the host of Rachel Maddow’s slot when Maddow reverts to her Monday-only regimen in April — with (probably) Jen Psaki.
I personally have never liked Reid, finding her to be pugnacious and in-your-face, and I never really bought her non-apology apology and flimsy explanation for her past transphobic and homophobic tweets and blog entries and her endorsement of Alex Jones’ 9/11 inside-job conspiracy theory “Loose Change”. Initially she tried to deny having written the tweets and blog entries, but eventually had to concede she had.
