A week doesn’t go by without another brewer or beer bar closing down, and the stories are often similar: costs including labor are up, beer sales are down. OTOH, sometimes it’s just bad management. From SFGate: Popular California brewery announces sudden closure amid legal troubles
On Thursday, Eric Buterbaugh, head bartender at Sequoia Brewing, posted on social media that all three Sequoia locations — two in Fresno, along with the Visalia brewery and restaurant — would be shutting their doors for good. “On Sunday we will be closing all three locations and bankruptcy is filed,” he wrote. “We are closing because Jeremy Smith, the owner since Covid, horrifically mismanaged his life and a very solid thriving business.” SFGATE could not find a bankruptcy court filing involving Sequoia Brewing’s parent company, J&A Mash Barrel, LLC., or a personal bankruptcy filing for Smith.
SFGate did find two lawsuits against Sequoia and/or Smith, one by the brewery’s landlord and another by an ex-employee.

I happened to notice Sam Adams in the cooler a few weeks ago and grabbed some. Man, back in the ‘90s we thought that was pretty good! It does not really suit my taste now, though certainly still better than most American industrial lager.
Time for something different, the Maui Waui I bought today should be cold enough to drink by now. Anyway, that was the last Sam.
