New Yorkers gather to demand resignation of Mayor Eric Adams [1]

About 200 New Yorkers braved the bitter cold on Wednesday to demand the resignation of indicted Mayor Eric Adams. Led by a large contingent from City University, the crowd represented many organizations: New York Communities for Change, Professional Staff Congress, PeoplesPlanNYC, Freedom Rising, Democratic Socialists of America, and others.

I’m sure anyone on this site is familiar with the past week’s quid-pro-quo scandals and the wave of prosecutorial resignations that have engulfed NYC government. The courage of US Attorney Danielle Sassoon is a sign that even conservatives may find that Trump’s megalomania goes too far.

Yesterday Governor Hochul met with city and state officials yesterday to consider the calls for her to remove the mayor, a step which seems to be within her authority but which has never before been taken in NY. Personally, I am not sure it’s a good precedent to set in times like these, but I do want to see Adams stand trial, which was set for April before Trump’s corrupt DOJ intervened. Federal Judge Dale Ho is also pondering whether to block the DOJ attempt to drop the indictments. And half of New York Deputy Mayors, appointed by Adams, resigned Monday.

Trump continues to beat up on the hometown that doesn’t love him, as in today’s news on his attempt to reverse the congestion pricing policy that has made Manhattan streets a little more manageable in recent weeks. He was so pleased with that ploy that he dropped any pretense of sanity and proclaimed himself king. See Emily SInger’s Front Page story “Trump officially declares himself 'king'—crown included”

As the crowd chanted this morning, Stand up, fight back!”
