Remember the other day when kos wrote about Nebraska on the precipice of finding out the hard way exactly what most of their voters just asked for? Well... it turns out the crack government efficiency team sees no need for the most important cattle research facility in the top beef exporting state to have employees or funding. The Nebraska Cattlemen, a PAC that regularly supports Republican candidates, is distressed by layoffs affecting the U.S. Meat Animal Research Center (USMARC) in Clay Center, Nebraska, which has over 25,000 animals in its herds and performs research essential to the industry and animal health. Probably also important during this little season of bird flu transferring to cattle.

Nebraska Cattlemen is urging its membership to contact the state's exclusively Republican Congressional delegation to seek relief.

The spokesperson for the organization insisted that she understands the reasonable desire for face eating leopards - she just didn't think that the face eating leopards were ever going to eat her group's face:

“We understand the desire to cut wasteful spending,” she said. “We just believe that USMARC is not in the category of wasteful spending.”
