More on Jasmine Crockett, Rising Texas Superstar [1]

Wow! Less than two days after posting a well-received diary about Jasmine Crockett’s devastating burn of Captain Apartheid and MAGA’s weird obsession with immigrants taking our jobs, I get a personalized fund-raising appeal from the gentlelady herself (I presume it has to be a coincidence, since there doesn’t seem to be any way to link my nom-de-plume on DK to my IRL email account).
Now normally I don’t pay much attention to these types of mass email appeals since I’m constantly being bombarded with them even long after the election, but this one really stood out. It’s so well-crafted that I thought I’ld share it here in its entirety — added bonus, it’s also fairly brief and entirely on point:
xxxxxxxxxx, it’s Jasmine. I can’t help but think about what we might have had if Kamala Harris was elected President. We would’ve had a woman who inspired joy — not joblessness. A woman who knows the value of hard work — not heartlessness. A woman who our allies respected — not ridiculed. Instead, we ended up with a miserable and desperate man who’s letting some unelected, billionaire psychopath named Elon Musk lead our country off the side of a cliff. But I refuse to let my despair at the current state of affairs stand in the way of my resolve to change things for the better. That’s why I’m already working hard to make sure Democrats SWEEP the midterm elections and provide a critical check on President Trump’s insane administration. Can I count on you to chip in a donation -- split with iVote Fund -- to help me in this fight at such a critical moment?
I think this is the first I’ve heard of iVote, despite it being around for at least a decade:
iVote was created in 2014 with one goal: secure voting rights for all Americans.
Rather than take on challenges in the court after unfair laws have passed, iVote plays defense on voter suppression efforts AND goes on offense to secure and expand access to voting.
Going on offense is critical. We have the chance to elect Secretaries of State that will protect our elections for years to come. But Republicans are already suppressing and blocking certain citizens from exercising their fundamental right to vote. DONATE We need a massive coalition to register new voters and protect our right to vote in this election and beyond.
She already had me at “I can’t help but think about what we might have had” — so despite my normal policy of just ignoring these mass email appeals, I’m actually inclined to donate to this one. Thoughts from anyone about iVote as a worthwhile organization to support?
