A third independent spillover of avian flu to dairy cows has occurred in Arizona. This is also the D1.1 subtype, but sequencing shows it was not spread from the Nevada herds. The cattle were not showing symptoms when they tested positive. CIDRAP

A Wyoming woman is hospitalized in Colorado with bird flu, caught from her backyard flock. She is older and has underlying medical conditions. She is the fourth person to be hospitalized with bird flu in the US. CIDRAP

Cats in two Oregon households were sickened by raw pet food. They had to be euthanized due to the severity of their illness. Unopened containers were tested and matched the samples from the cats.

The findings prompted a consumer alert from the Washington State Department of Agriculture about the risk of avian flu in certain lots of pet food made by Wild Coast Raw, based in Olympia, Washington. The alert applies to two lots of feline formula boneless free-range chicken formula sold in 24-ounce plastic containers.

Lea County, New Mexico now has three measles cases in adults. They are suspected but not confirmed to be linked to the Texas cases just across the border. There is one case in New Jersey, in someone who just returned from international travel.
