Co-presidents find an exception to fighting waste [1]

I just read (at Digby’s Hullabaloo, citing an item from Financial Express) regarding the cost to American taxpayers for co-president Donald Trump’s cameo appearance at the Daytona 500 race. You may have seen or heard, this was the trip on Air Farce One from West palm Beach, Florida, to Daytona, Florida, to observe the traditional American spectacle of driving around in circles.

Okay, driving around in circles is one of the few things that Donald Trump understands, I’m sure. But the meat of the article was how much this cost taxpayers. The jet flight cost between $800,000 and $1,000,000, and the motorcade and transport cost $200,000 to $500,000. (There were other, auxiliary costs for security, &c.). Where was co-president Musk? Why has he not fired Donald Trump?

This reminds me of Grandpappy Fred Thompson, when he was campaigning. He would fly into a city, and had his “little red pickup” driven to the airport, so he could approach the venue as though he were a good ol’ boy. If the celebrity bozo simply rode in the car (that was being driven to the destination anyway), the cost of the flight would have been saved. This is further evidence that “saving taxpayer money from fraud and abuse” is a hypocritical smokescreen for “dismantling America.”
