"No Kings" protest in Maine North of the Wall Feb 17 2025 [1]

Maine will be joining all other states in protesting the Musk Coup. there are many rallies around he state — Augusta, Porland. Lewison, Bangor and other smaller towns.
the big factor here is the weather. the storm ended last night but now the winds come in and the windchill may be as low as -20.
I am not on the organizing Commitee though they invited me to return to this event and lead the music.
the protest is outside the state capital building in Augusta. here is a plaza often used for such events, and a permit to use it has been obtained, which assures police presence in case of problems. the legislature is not in session, which means the buildings are locked. the crowd can not access the warm room in the nearby office building nor do they have access to toilets. so the group rented portapotties. hot cocoa will be available.
PENGUINS?
I wrote a message on the group’s Internet page:
today's forecast is for severe windchills. BE PREPARED TO DO THE "PENGUIN HUDDLE" - i.e., act like a large flock of penguins in the arctic, trying to prevent their chicks from cooling off. here is how: 1. stand as close together as possible, in a place out of the wind. pack tight like sardines. 2. the people on the upwind edge of the mob will take turns rotating into the inner part if they get too cold. 3. bring a tarp if you have one, there will be no place to stake it in, but if the group cooperates you can hold it up like a wall on the side the wind is coming from. (penguins, actually, do not have access to tarps) 4. shift your weight to keep moving. Here is an Instructional VIDEO:
I play a “pocket trumpet” for these occasions, but I don’ know how long it will last before the valves freeze.
We are sure to get media coverage, even if only to show the viewing audience how seriously we take this current political crisis.
