Join Worldwide Ukrainian Rallies on February 22-24 to Help Ukraine Win [1]

I understand that many Americans right now have many other concerns requiring a public protest and pressure on the government (or resistance to its actions). Nevertheless, I do ask you to find several hours of your time next Saturday, Sunday, or Monday to join Ukrainian protests marking the third anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Millions of Ukrainians on the territories occupied by Russia do not have a right to a public protest – you can easily get into jail just for waving a Ukrainian flag, or for singing a Ukrainian song. And this is a Russian prison, which means that you would be tortured for days, if not weeks and months.

Thousands, possibly tens of thousands of Ukrainians currently imprisoned in Russia have no rights at all. Both genuine prisoners of war and many civilians who dared – or were accused of daring – to oppose the Russian occupation of their towns and villages. They can not call or write to their relatives; they are denied adequate medical care; they are likely to be subject to a whole range of inhuman treatment. The International Red Cross can not see them and inform their relatives and the Ukrainian government about their whereabouts and condition.

You, however, can be their voice. You can be the voice of us, Ukrainians, who live, work, and fight in Ukraine. We have lost many great people, possibly the greatest Ukrainian citizens and patriots of our generation, but our spirit is strong. We believe we can win. But we still depend for our survival – and our victory - on international support.

Please ask your government to continue and increase military support of Ukraine.

Please ask your government to continue, enforce, and increase sanctions against Russia.

Please ask your government to support the establishment of the international tribunal on the Russian war against Ukraine and on Russian war crimes in Ukraine.

Please ask your government to pressure Russia by all means possible until and unless Russia agrees to pay Ukraine and Ukrainians fair compensation for all damages and suffering of Ukrainians caused by the Russian war in Ukraine.

Please remind your government and your compatriots that an unpunished evil returns.

Please remind your government that the appeasement of a criminal dictator did not work in 1938. And it would not work today.

Please make your support heard and seen this week.
