Chrystia Freeland for President [1]

Chrystia Freeland is running for Prime Minister of Canada, but given speculation that Canada could become a part of the United States (or vice versa), I think we should consider her as a viable candidate for President of the United States.

Freeland has been minister of finance for Canada, which is the kind of background that would be very valuable for President. Not just that, but she was a journalist in Ukraine, which is a real bonus as we look to settle the war with Russia there.

Appearing on the Velshi program on MSNBC, Freeland laid out why the U.S. should not screw with Canada by imposing tariffs. She noted this could be very bad for U.S. farmers, which get the majority of potash from Canada. Do you like to eat? Well, it might be a bit difficult if Canada cut off fertilizer to farmers here.

She also noted that the lights in New York City are glowing because of electricity from Canada. (Over a million people in the Northeast get their power from Canada).

Freeland also pointed about the ability of Canada to respond to U.S. tariffs. She said they would target their response, and they have a pretty good idea where the power lies in Washington, D.C.

Canada would respond by putting high tariffs on key products like Tesla vehicles.

Canada is probably our biggest customer. It would be hugely self-destructive to launch a trade war with Canada.

You might think it is impossible for Freeland, who isn’t a native born U.S. citizen, to become President. Ha! You are so behind the times! Americans gave up on that whole “qualification for President” thing. We have a guy in the White House right now who was part of an insurrection—and gave aid and comfort to insurrectionists. Heck, Republicans are planning to run Elon Musk for President in 2028.

But we would be better off with a smart, well-informed person in the Oval Office.
