Beware the Ides of March (Excrement to Meet the Fan) [1]

Mid-March will be a cataclysmic time for the Trump administration as its actions push America into an extremely dark chapter. Government will likely close its doors and scoundrels and stuffed shirts will flail without reaching a solution.
The one resource that (at least on earth) is completely finite is time. The Administration will run out of it about March 15.
To list some of the things that will be coming together: The “continuing resolution” funding the government will expire. With a one-seat majority in the House, Republicans will have little chance of enacting legislation. Deficit hawks within the Republican party will refuse to throw in trillions of dollars to save the situation. “Moderate” Republicans will refuse to slash programs such as Medicaid that are popular in their districts. It only takes one unhappy Republican to block the plan for a “budget reconciliation.”
Trump’s magic tariffs will raise little money in the short term and not save his government from the fiscal beast eating their faces. Fear of Trump will keep Republicans from working on solutions. The Cabinet full of people selected to look good on TV will contribute very little to a solution.
Musk’s disruption of the government will produce little of value, unless you consider disruption as something valuable.
All of this will be happening in the context of the expiration of Trump’s tax cuts. Very important to Trump, they have wrecked the fiscal stability of the government in the past, and if continued, will permanently damage the United States.
It will take more than renaming the Gulf of Mexico to solve this mess. I think the government will be shut down for a while.
Will our Democrats be tough enough to hold firm until the rule of law is restored and a real fiscal solution is put in place? I certainly hope so.
