Kitchen Table Kibitzing 2/15/25 [1]

towards the end of december we noticed a gray cat roaming the yard.
do you know this cat..??
we’d often see the cat staring in at us.
or sitting in the yard preying on the birds. we actually had to move the bird feeders away from bushes to make it harder for the cat.
a couple weeks ago while working in the yard the cat meowed at me from down in the bushes. I meowed back… and that was all it took. the cat followed me around the yard for the next couple days. concerned the cat was not getting fed… I fed the cat.
the poor cat would just sit out in the rain looking in at us and the other cats.
eventually the cat trusted me to pet them. often the cat would be soaked until they found a dry place to sleep on the covered patio furniture. we had been posting on social media hoping to find its humans. no luck. when we saw the cat run by the bedroom window with a fox just seconds behind we decided that would be the cat’s last night outside. the next morning when they came for food I grabbed them and brought it into grandma’s rooms.
we took the cat to the vet. the cat was chipped, “Harry” was his name. but nobody responded when the vet called. Harry was neutered and in decent health… but came back positive for feline leukemia. because feline leukemia is a virus it is contagious to other cats. ugh. we would have been happy to give Harry a home. the other cats even seemed open to him… thru the window anyway.
he is an extremely sweet cat… with years of life left. but this will make it harder to find him a home. he’ll continue to live with grandma for now. and we will search for a forever home for Harry.

had to get a new phone… the old one wasn’t holding a charge. the screen had been damaged for years. the good news… the new phone has a much better camera.
