Measles outbreak in Texas has doubled. There are 48 cases as of Friday, in four counties. Thirteen of them are hospitalized. All cases are in unvaccinated people or those with unknown vaccine status.
Measles is one of the most infectious diseases on the planet, and 9 out of 10 unvaccinated people will catch it if exposed. It causes high fevers and the rash, but people can spread it from four days before the rash appears to four days afterward. In the US, twenty percent of patients are hospitalized, 5 percent develop pneumonia, and 3 in 1,000 die, on average. It also wipes out immune memory, leaving us vulnerable to many other diseases.
Promises Made, Promises broken.
On his first day of work, RFK Jr. has failed to protect the CDC from Musk's wrecking ball. Half of the Epidemic Intelligence Service, some 1260 workers, have been laid off, contrary to what he promised.
In an interview with Fox News after he was sworn in, Kennedy pledged that employees who work in service of public health had “nothing to worry about” under his tenure fronting America’s health policy. “If you’ve been involved in good science, you’ve got nothing to worry about,” Kennedy said. “If you care about public health, you’ve got nothing to worry about.”

Illinois Department of Agriculture has suspended all poultry exhibitions and open sales for 30 days, to help curb the spread of bird flu.
This flu season is now classed as “high severity” for all age groups. The last such season was 2017-2018. Flu deaths now outnumber Covid deaths. The season total so far of pediatric deaths is 68.
