Yes, federal programs like Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, etc ... need to be audited periodically for waste, fraud, and abuse but this has been the case for over 30 years and vigilance is required. As such, the statements by Elon Musk must be backed up with facts which accurately characterize the information found.
Based on this qualifier, the recent misinformation promoted by Elon Musk about $50M spent for condoms in Gaza which was actually money spent in Africa to prevent the spread of AIDS makes me doubt anything Musk says relative to what DOGE has found about federal spending especially related to Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and other federally sponsored social programs. At this point, the only high level of corruption revealed by the Trump Administration is the budget line item to purchase $400M of electric security trucks from Elon's car company, i.e. Tesla.
