Elon Musk has never been voted into office. Congress has never confirmed him for a position. And yet the richest man on Earth has already done so much damage in Trump’s second term.
As head of the fake Department of Governmental Efficiency, he's hacked into the federal Treasury and stopped giving foreign aid . Now Musk has shut down the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau , the people who've given $21 billion back to the American people by stopping bank fraud.
With $390 billion in wealth and so much government power, Musk seems almost unstoppable. But that's the point: Musk is using his enormous wealth to overpower the government so that he can maintain control over America and in turn keep his wealth, all at our expense.
It's the classic billionaire playbook. In 2020, Oxford was making a free and public COVID-19 vaccine. Then Bill Gates, who owns stocks in pharmaceutical companies, bullied the University into selling the rights to the vaccine to a private company , denying the public a free COVID-19 vaccine. Two years later, a California proposal to raise taxes on billionaires to fight wildfires and fund climate projects failed after California billionaires like Reed Hastings donated millions to the opposition campaign .
Money equals power, and billionaires now have so much money that they are able to bulldoze through democracy to kill any perceived threat to their money or power, including assaulting popular proposals such as universal healthcare, a right to a union, or a higher minimum wage.
