U.S. Vice President Betrays the Legacy of American Soldiers (Munich Security Conference) [1]

The United States made a significant contribution to the liberation of Europe from Hitler, and many American soldiers gave their lives for this cause. In the years that followed, the U.S., along with Britain and France, became the protector of most of Germany against the Soviet Union. While it was unfortunately unavoidable that part of Germany fell under Soviet control, the U.S. played a crucial role in safeguarding the rest from Stalinism. Once again, American soldiers made sacrifices—this time during the Berlin Airlift.
Eighty years later, this contribution is at risk of being forgotten. In Germany, political forces are gaining strength that, while not openly embracing National Socialism, are pursuing policies that increasingly resemble its ideology. One party in particular, the AfD, stands at the center of this development.
Now, the U.S. Vice President steps onto the world stage and criticizes Germany because all democratic forces refuse to cooperate with this party, claiming that the opinions of its voters are being suppressed. By doing so, the Vice President becomes a supporter of a movement that stands in the tradition of Hitler’s regime. This stance dishonors the American soldiers who gave their lives for Europe’s freedom.
