Pissed Off Trump Voters Might Help Save The Country. thebanter.substack.com/...
The indiscriminate decimation of the federal government and hiring of extremists cabinet members is creating a bigger backlash than Trump expected. [summary of the past few weeks] ✂️ That’s the bad news. For now. The good news is that the indiscriminate decimation of the federal government and the stacking of cabinet level departments with nincompoops and pro-Russia goons is beginning to be noticed by Americans who were suckered into voting for Donald last year. Rupert Murdoch’s Wall Street Journal published a piece this week describing the souring mood of the American consumer. The lede: “The Trump bump in consumer confidence is already over.” Notibe quote: “I don’t like the turbulence. I don’t like the chaos in the market,” said Paul Bisson, a 58-year-old, who voted for Trump. “That will make the economy worse, and that’s not what we signed up for.” I don’t suspect the uptick in inflation last month will assuage Mr. Bisson’s concerns. ✂️ And finally, you’ll get a chuckle out of this item from Fortune.com: More than 813,000 crypto wallets have lost a total of $2 billion after buying President Donald Trump’s memecoin, according to an assessment by Chainanalysis commissioned by the New York Times. Meanwhile, the Trump Organization and its partners gained $100 million in trading fees. Since its Jan. 17 launch, $TRUMP has lost most of its value, which is now about $16 per share, down from its $75 peak. The good news is the suckers who lost all their money on Donald’s latest get-rich-scam will be able to file a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau – oh wait. Donald and Elon essentially shut down the agency. Never mind. Beyond the FAFO schadenfreude, these stories will continue to multiply as the president and his goons continue to destabilize the country. To repeat: inflation is rising again; plus the cost of housing and new cars will also rise due to completely unnecessary tariffs on steel and aluminum; Hispanic-Americans will see their friends and family members disappeared into prison camps without legal recourse or any hope of release; and the real life tragedies will continue to impact everyone, including the dummies who voted for Donald despite our myriad warnings. While I relish none of this, my hope is that the administration will collapse like a Jenga puzzle before the nation does, due largely to real people being impacted by this dismantling of our imperfect but practically necessary system.

Thank you Karma, there is a Dog!

And thank you people with integrity and the power of their convictions (the good kind, that is).
x From the resignation letter of AUSA Hagan Scotten: "I expect you will eventually find someone who is enough of a fool, or enough of a coward, to file your motion. But it was never going to be me."

Dog, I'm getting tired of typing this line. And yet, it fits so well here. "But first, I'd like you to do me a favor though..."
x This is just sheer brazen criminality by DOJ. Adams gets federal corruption charges dropped not because there isn’t overwhelming evidence, but because he agrees to help Homan round up migrants. And Homan says the charges will be refiled if Adams doesn’t “come through.”

I'm no expert in criminal or trial law, but i hope the judge refuses to accept the dismissal.

x Having passed up the opportunity years ago to run DOJ’s Civil Division, I’ve never run a large organization, let alone at DOJ. So I’m no expert. But I’m gonna spitball that if hundreds of your subordinates want to tell you to “go fuck yourself,” you might, perhaps, have a management problem.

Thank you The Assosciated Press. The AP provides a model of effective press resistance. www.publicnotice.co/…
The White House is punishing the Associated Press for defying President Donald Trump’s petty and Orwellian censorship. Trump insists that journalistic outlets refer to the Gulf of Mexico solely as the “Gulf of America.” The AP has continued to refer to the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of Mexico. In retaliation, Trump barred the AP’s reporters from attending presidential press availabilities. But the AP refused to knuckle under. The organization’s stand provides a model for resistance to tyranny, and a model for free speech, that much of American media needs right now. The dispute over the name of the Gulf of Mexico seems trivial, especially compared to a range of other horrors Trump is currently perpetrating. But tyrants are tyrants in part because they insist on asserting control over even trivial matters.
Its a really good read and a reminder that not all news outlets are obeying in advance.

Chip Roy is an idiot.
x Article 1, Section 1 of the Constitution: "All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States." The claim that the Founders vested all power in the executive is a reality inverting, piss-on-my-leg-and-tell-me-it's-raining lie. That's what they rebelled against.

And Hegseth is an as shat.
x Weird how Pete Hegseth doesn't put a lot of stock in values. From the U.S. Army website: "Soldiers learn these values in detail ... they live them every day in everything they do — whether on the job or off. In short, the Seven Core Army Values listed below are what being a soldier is all about."

GOOD! Way to go Gov. Hochul. Now, fire Eric Adams.
x New York Gov. Kathy Hochul has rejected a Republican-backed request to extradite a doctor charged with prescribing abortion pills online to a Louisiana resident last month.
"I will not be signing an extradition order that came from the governor of Louisiana, not now, not ever." — Kyle Griffin (@kylegriffin1.bsky.social) February 14, 2025 at 11:00 AM

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro Sues Trump Administration To Release Over $3 Billion in Federal Funds. www.democracydocket.com/…
Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro (D) sued President Donald Trump’s administration Thursday to get them to unfreeze over $3 billion of federal funding allocated to his state’s agencies over the next several years. Trump’s Office of Management and Budget issued a Jan. 27 memo announcing a funding freeze for federal government agencies and quickly rescinded the memo two days later. However, the administration clarified that the funding freeze was still in effect, pursuant to the previous executive orders Trump issued regarding federal department and agency spending. In the following week, two federal judges in Rhode Island and Washington, D.C. granted requests for temporary restraining orders, which halted the funding freeze while litigation continues in the lawsuits. “While multiple federal judges have ordered the Trump Administration to unfreeze this funding, access has not been restored, leaving my Administration with no choice but to pursue legal action to protect the interests of the Commonwealth and its residents,” Shapiro said in a Thursday statement. The congressionally-approved funding to Pennsylvania helps agencies in “protecting public health, cutting energy costs, providing safe, clean drinking water, and creating jobs in rural communities,” Shapiro said.
