Trump/Hegseth to NATO: Don't Bother Calling Us [1]

David Kurtz at Talking Points Memo has a lot of information on how the Department of Justice is now being run directly by the White House, on Musk, and so much more — but this tidbit at the bottom is newsworthy all by itself.
I usually let the quote of the day speak for itself, but when the United States abandons the post-World War II security arrangement in Europe at the same time President Trump is undermining Ukraine’s defense of Russia’s invasion, it’s worth noting that this may be the most historically significant news of the past 24 hours: “I’m … here today to directly and unambiguously express that stark strategic realities prevent the United States from being the primary guarantor of security in Europe.”–Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, at a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group at NATO headquarters
Those “stark strategic realities” are that the Trump administration is too busy purging the military of DEI, driving out trans people and women, and transitioning to a force of white male holy Christian warriors to be bothered with defending allies who have stood by us and with us for decades. What’s in it for us, after all?
Expect Trump/Musk to brag about how much money we are saving because we’re no longer being ripped off by NATO. Besides, the important tasks for the U.S. military are now:
Sending troops to ‘secure’ the border
Deporting people rounded up by I.C.E.
Preparing to take back the Panama Canal
Invading Mexico
Annexing Canada
Seizing Greenland
Defending the Gulf of America
Xi and Putin celebrating. Trump/Musk is the gift that keeps on giving
Everything Trump Touches Dies (ETTD) - if he doesn't outright kill it.
