Democrats Do Not Deserve Our Vote [1]

This isn’t a long post, but Good God.



Having roasted people up and down for not voting in 2024, I’m shocked at the utterly limp-wristed response from our Democratic leaders in Congress after Trump’s inauguration. Despite an absolutely unprecedented wave of autocratic actions from Trump, all we’re seeing from our side is the same old bullshit playbook.



Lawsuits do little good if Trump ignores court rulings altogether. The GOP only understands force in the context of politics, while Chuck Schumer and Dick Durbin have effectively taken the prospect of a government shutdown off the table in advance of next month’s debt ceiling showdown. There’s no reason for them to do this at all, since the GOP would absolutely get the majority of the blame in the event bad things happen. And the Democrats will get no public recognition or reward for having done the mature thing, so why should they do it? I guess they don’t want to make the Beltway media too mad or something.



Democrats should be throwing up every single procedural block they can. Deprive Congress of a quorum. Never agree to unanimous consent in the Senate. Vote as a unified bloc against everything the GOP supports, and hold hostage every piece of legislation we possibly can. Will it work most of the time? No. But it will slow things way down, which is better than the ass-kissing we’ve seen from those weaklings thus far.



I’ve been a Democrat my entire adult life, but frankly, I have zero interest in supporting that shit-show of a party until they get their heads of their collective asses. Given the pathetic display we’ve seen, it might take a while.
