Were you watching the Super Bowl ?
x During the Super Bowl halftime show, a protester stormed the field waving a Palestinian and Sudanese flag, demanding the world’s attention on genocide and oppression. He was later tackled by security. pic.twitter.com/CYRdoTbOfC — Mondoweiss (@Mondoweiss) February 10, 2025
It seems the individual was a member of the performing group, and has likely suffered a significant career consequence as a result of this protest. Takes a bit of courage, don't you think ?
Here is another group, within the context of a larger anti-Trump march
Protesters held signs calling for an end to U.S. aid to Israel and demanding a free Palestine.
Students have also been setting up encampments. Here is one at Bowdoin College.
A pro-Palestine encampment at Bowdoin College has ended after organizers reached “an understanding to conclude the encampment” with administrators. The students still inside the building exited during a rally Monday evening. The protest, which began last Thursday, was organized by Bowdoin Students for Justice in Palestine, which announced the event last week as a response to the college’s lack of action on a student referendum. The Bowdoin Solidarity Referendum, which passed by a wide margin last spring, called on the college to take an institutional stand against the Israeli government and not make future investments in arms manufacturers. Student protesters set up an encampment inside a student center building Thursday evening. College administrators issued disciplinary warnings to encamped students several times over the course of the protest, including in suspension letters given to eight students Monday morning. Organizer Olivia Kenney left the building Monday night, and said that while the college still isn’t making commitments to act on the referendum, students consider the protest a victory
But it is true that the number and scale of the protests have dwindled since last summer. That is true in the US, but it is also true worldwide.
For instance, here is a report from Australia
Melbourne Palestinian organisers have announced they will stop protesting every weekend, instead changing to monthly protests in the city’s CBD. Victorian Premier Jacinta Allen called for the “peace” on the city’s streets after a ceasefire began between Israel and Gaza. The protests have been held every Sunday since October 7, 2023, outside the State Library and continuing along several CBD streets, according to ABC.
There are 3 reasons for this.
First, several protestors are now dealing with repercussions…note, these are repercussions imposed by the liberal governing elite at Universities, and not by Trump
