Everything is Illuminated

" In the Sunset of Dissolution,

A mysterious amber color, within which an indecipherable image appears, suffuses the background of the opening credits of Liev Schreiber'sremarkable 2005 film, Everything is Illuminated.

Within a few minutes we see why.

It is, in fact, an actual piece of amber, containing a fossilized grasshopper,

fashioned into a jewel "centerpiece" designed to hang from a woman's pendant....



..And it is to be the central symbol, enriching the multileveled meanings of the entire movie.
