Rev. Paula White-Cain, the hustling prosperity gospel televangelist, associated with dominionism and the New Apostolic Reformation, is back at the White House. Trump announced last week at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C., that White-Cain, that his Stop the Steal spiritual advisor, who was also the chair of his evangelical advisory board during his 2016 campaign, has been named head of the newly created White House Faith Office.

“The office will be part of the Domestic Policy Council and headed by a senior adviser tasked with consulting with various faith and community leaders in an effort to defend religious liberty and combat antisemitism, anti-Christianity and other anti-religious bias, according to the [executive] order,” The Hill’s Alex Gangitano reported.

“If we don’t have religious liberty, then we don’t have a free country. We probably don’t even have a country,” said Trump. “While I am in the White House, we will protect Christians in our schools, in our military, in our government, in our workplaces, hospitals, and in our public squares, and we will bring our countries back together as one nation under God, with liberty and justice for all.”

"I have been appointed to lead the White House Faith Office," White-Cain posted to X, formerly Twitter. "The office will work alongside Attorney General Pam Bondi to combat discrimination against Christians in federal institutions and ensure religious liberties are upheld across the country!"

You would think, as Bill Maher commented on Trump’s remarks at the Prayer Breakfast, which emphasized the persecution of Christians in the U.S., that “a Christian can’t walk down the street these days without some Roman nailing him to the cross.”

As UPI’s Allen Cone and Doug Cunningham write, “Bondi is already empowered by the Constitution to uphold religious freedom for all in America with no legal need for a faith office to accomplish religious liberty defense. The First Amendment clause on religion states, ‘Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof...’ The Supreme Court has interpreted it to cover all branches of the federal government and not just Congress” (https://www.upi.com/Top_News/US/2025/02/07/Trump-faith-office-executive-order/7831738955355/).

Evangelists promoting the prosperity gospel encourage parishioners to give generously to their churches, which in turn will bring material wealth and physical well-being.

White and her second husband, Randy White, founded the Tampa Christian Center in 1991 in Tampa, Florida. According to Newsweek, “A Senate report found that the couple had used tax-exempt ministry money to pay for a private jet, salaries to family members and nearly $900,000 for a waterfront mansion,” (https://www.newsweek.com/paula-white-pastor-trump-white-house-faith-office-2028007). White is currently married to Journey's keyboard and guitarist Jonathan Cain.

As Right Wing Watch’s Kyle Mantyla recently reported: “In the wake of Trump's loss in the 2020 election, White held multiple emergency prayer services to battle the ‘demonic confederacies’ that were supposedly trying to steal the election” (https://www.peoplefor.org/rightwingwatch/paula-white-back-white-house).

At the January 6, 2021, rally with Trump, White “prayed that God would give rallygoers a ‘holy boldness’ and that ‘every adversary’ would ‘be overturned right now in the name of Jesus.’”

Back in the day, White appeared on Jim Bakker’s “The Jim Bakker Show,” and told viewers that “opposition to the president is opposition to God and explicitly praised Trump for not sounding or acting presidential,” Mantyla reported in 2017.

"Thank goodness," White said. "In other words, he's not a polished politician. In other words, he's authentically—whether people like him or not, he's been raised up by God because God says that He raises up and places all people in places of authority. It is God that raises up a king, it is God that sets one down and so when you fight against the plan of God, you're fighting against the hand of God."

White will make the perfect faith advisor to Trump as she is opposed to same-sex marriage, believes Black Lives Matter is a terrorist organization has defended Trump’s aggressive anti-immigrant policies, and is super strongly anti-abortion.

Many of Trump cabinet members and appointees have ties to the New Apostolic Reformation -- a Christian nationalist movement that calls for the levers of government and society to come under Christian control. Paula White can certainly be counted among them.
