Save the Republican Party from Trump [1]

As I enjoyed my daily walk in the afternoon sun yesterday, I spoke to a woman walking her dog: “How do you feel about what is happening in our government?” I asked. She shook her head. “It’s terrible, I am so disheartened, distressed that I voted for Trump. I can’t do anything to right this terrible wrong.” she said. “We need to act on behalf of the Republican Party, which is being consumed by Trump’s illegal actions.” I suggested. “Can you reach out to your Republican friends and Representatives in Government, and urge them to act now to save the Republican Party from Trump?” She perked up, listening intently. “I hope we can all reach out effectively against Trump and Musk’s aims, which will destroy our democracy and injure our entire middle class as they enrich their billionaire cronies. As President Lincoln said, so many years ago, “A House Divided against itself cannot stand…..it will become all one thing or all the other.” I have been a life-long Democrat, but I believe we all need to stand with Republicans to save the Party so we can continue as a country ‘for the people, of the people and by the people.’ Can you reach out to your fellow Republicans?” She smiled, encouraged, “Yes, I believe I CAN do that!”
