Money; the Ugly Side of Campaigns [1]

Let’s talk about the way we measure “viable candidates.”
As you all know, I am new to running for office. I am navigating this old system, trying to understand the different nuances while maintaining my vision and integrity. I have found myself trapped in a vicious circle that feeds into itself. Every organization I have spoken to has the same mentality.
Need an endorsement? You have to raise “x” amount of money first. Need money? We need to see other organizations endorse you. So on and so forth.
Now I don’t come from money. There is no personal fund to draw on until the donations start to come in. This system has got me thinking. Liberals, in particular, often preach equality and beg for younger leadership. We talk about how the older politicians need to retire and that we shouldn’t be able to buy our leaders. Yet we perpetuate a system that encourages old money.
With that being said, how can we do better? I understand money is a necessary evil. Money pays for ads, staff, resources. It’s what makes this capitalistic society go round. Nothing gets changed over night, but maybe we should start believing in candidates even if they haven’t raised thousands of dollars. Rural campaigns are treated as secondary, then democrats wonder why rural Americans accuse them of not caring. Saying you care is different from showing you care. I believe the state party should treat campaigns equally no matter the location.
Anyways, there’s my ramble for the day. Food for thought perhaps?
