It's not a joke. We now have an official national holiday called Gulf of America Day.
It would have worked a lot better if Trump had let everyone know ahead of time, like a couple of days. How can you celebrate it if you don't even know about it?
I had been checking Trump's Truth Social account and Whitehouse.gov up until Super Bowl time, and there wasn't anything new. The Gulf of America announcement came during the Super Bowl, but he signed it on Air Force One, flying over the Gulf on his way to the Super Bowl.
"Today, I am making my first trip to the Gulf of America since it's renaming. As my Administration restores American pride in the history of America greatness, it is fitting and appropriate for our great nation to come together and commemorate this momentous occasion and the renaming of the Gulf of America."
He's just so happy the Gulf is renamed by his power. I think J.B. Pritzker's video about renaming Lake Michigan makes more sense.
"NOW, THEREFORE, I, DONALD J. TRUMP, President of the United States, virtue of the authority rested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim February 9th, 2025, as Gulf of America Day. I call upon public officials and all the people of the United States to observe this day with appropriate programs, ceremonies, and activities."
Gulf of America Day. GOAD. I don't think he knows what he's done. We're definitely goading the rest of the world with this renaming of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America. From now on, every February 9th is GOAD Day, or GOA Day. It's a GOAD day to do something else.
