Me.

So.

Decades of career history. Not ready to retire, but could.

Leave spouse of 2+ decades to move across the country to spend all day on virtual meetings & plane rides for on site inspections and analysis, that can be done from her home state right now?

I spoke with my baby sister today, that’s the story of another sister. Whom, my baby sister fears, will elect to retire and then devote herself to helping baby sister “improve” her life. Endlessly. With cheerful thoughts and plans and renovations… do you have an auntie like that? Sweet and kind, but has massive control issues and down to the grain of sand details issues? Yeah, baby sister is scared.

That the other sister will retire.

I assured her, my plans with my roommate younger kid (now omg 36 yrs old) who will inherit this house & lot eventually, to do some renovations and updates and upgrades? Miss I’m Retired and Bored will have many, many projects to help me work on to keep her busy for two years.

Raised veg beds on the north side (40 x 60 ft space). By next fall this year.

New chicken coop (have materials, have early March meeting to decide blueprint/plans to use and buy necessary screws, paints, etc. Already have the 3 tab (six pkgs of 3Tab left over from full roof replacement in 2021) for roof. Metal posts and horse fence w/chicken wire to fence in those birds and keep them save from the coyotes (in the canyon of 20 or 30 yards down to a teeny, tiny seasonal creek north side of our one car wide private road) of which there have been a HUGE increase in the past five years.

Stripping the kitchen to the sheetrock and/or framing timbers. Have a new dishwasher arriving March 6th. Will want a new countertop and the 2 x 4 framing to support it by then. We’ll figure out and install the rest of the under counter stuff as our best speed. Already have the framing wood and plywood sheets for most of it.

So, yeah, I think it’ll take us a good two years to get all of that done.

Maybe by then some sanity will have returned to the Federal government and my sister can go back to the work that she really, really loved.

But if not…

I am thinking of a solar array on gimbals along my drive on the north end of the half acre and a solar powered new well and pump. The will she retire sister has worked with electrical engineers for nearly 3 decades now, and like her sisters, is a data/information sponge, and has a terrific memory. So I think that last project will really excite her.

As for the rest of the Federal Employees out there: KNOW that there likely a lot of people, just like me, related to you and as we learn of how the dastardly actions in D.C. are affecting the lives of those near and dear to us, we are terribly, horribly saddened for what this is doing to you, too. Even if you haven’t gotten a “move across country if you want to keep your job” directive, I’m sure you’ve heard from or of someone who has — or worst yet, who will soon.

After the DOGEtwinks get done defenestrating the federal workforce, I suspect they’ll be coming for the monthly benefit checks that currently go out to over 68 MILLION American Social Security Beneficiaries. Like me.

I ask you. What exactly do you think is going to happen when SIXTY EIGHT MILLION people don’t get their SS check for two months in a row?

When health care insurance companies don’t get their direct payment of their insured’s Medicare Part B monthly premium, because they’ve stopped those checks, too.

When Managed care facilities for the aged and infirm stop receiving the monthly payments from Medicaid (Medicare doesn’t cover long-term managed care) for who knows how many people. Those facilities won't wait to discharge those people to their families within 30 to 60 days.

Within 90 more days, I fully expect even the imbecilic Republicans in America to wake the fuck up from their idiot dream of Rule by Authoritarianism and remove him from Office. Because about 150 million Americans will be burning up the phones and flooding the internet with demands that GET THAT GUY GONE. Maybe even surrounding the Capitol Building with drums and speakers asking, too. Included in some of those millions of contacts will be ones from some really, really wealthy people.

Because he is nothing more than a gigantic chaos stirrer.

You know who chaos stirring is not a good thing for? Wealthy people with investments in the stock markets. BANKS. None of those people like chaos, because it fucks up their investment (and profit) plans. It introduces Unneccesary Risk to their doh-re-mi and they absolutely do not like that shit.

We are living in perilous times, friends.

Don’t dispair, though. He might think he will be a mighty Dictator for Life, but in truth, he an old, worn out leather sandal which has seen far too much sunlight, and his time in the sun only has 46 (irrc) months left in it. We’ve done this before, we can do it again.

At least this time? We know for sure that this is the last of him.

https://constitution.congress.gov/constitution/amendment-22/ No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once. But this Article shall not apply to any person holding the office of President when this Article was proposed by the Congress, and shall not prevent any person who may be holding the office of President, or acting as President, during the term within which this Article becomes operative from holding the office of President or acting as President during the remainder of such term.

My sister? She’s been an ant her entire life, working and putting away her money since she was 14 or 15, and already had dreams of a different kind of life than the sort of hanging-on-by-a-thread barely working class one we grew up in. She has already sewn and prepared her own ‘golden parachute’, I know, she’s told me about it, with pride. She earned it.

Plus, I haven’t had a lot of time to just putter around doing projects with her in over 40 years now, so I’m feeling sort of good about things.

At least tonight I am, god only knows what that ridiculous excuse for the Leader of the Free World is going to do or say tomorrow.
