Closing the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is maybe Trump's biggest public relations error [1]

Closing the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is I think one of Trump’s greatest public relations errors.
Without any ambiguity it says he does not care about protecting the average American from unfair treatment by the credit card companies and banks and payday lenders and debt collectors, and that he is on the side of corporations and not of the average person.
This should be absolutely clear to everyone including his MAGA base.
Many voters may cheer ending foreign aid. Many voters may be suspicious of vaccines and find it okay to appoint a prominent anti-vaxxer to head our Federal health service. Others may find it okay for Trump to protect himself by appointing only loyal people, and find it okay to appoint Kash Patel to head the FBI and a sycophant to head the DOJ.
But when he says he will not protect you from rapacious financial companies — who are widely known as uncaring at best and as exploiters at worst — he makes it very clear, to everyone — including his own supporters — that he does not care one tiny bit about the well being of the average American.
This is an issue that can really hurt Trump’s standing among his MAGA supporters.
