In the chaos of what now seems to be everyday life, it can be hard to find patterns and routines that can leave one pondering it’s meaning. In the recent weeks, however one pattern has stuck out to me, one in which has some glaring implications: the White House Press Briefing. The White House Press Briefing. From its humble beginnings in the Grant administration, it has grown to now be catalyst between the people of the United States, and the insight of the Executive Branch.
However, delegating an individual to speak in front of the people is no small task. It requires courage, honesty and wittiness to be able to handle the barrage of questions one may be thrown. In today's day and age, those ideals seem to be thrown out the window in favor of someone who can constantly praise the leader and throw anyone in the way under the bus. That is where it clicked for me.
When I have some down time, I will tune into the White House daily briefing to hear about the insane machinations the president has to offer. Normally I use it as background noise to get whatever task I assigned completed but I have found a pattern in these meetings. I recognize praising Turnip is consistent and will never go away. But when you look at all the evil powers in the world, one sticks out: North Korea. With pictures of their Leader Kim Jong Un hung in every living situation, it is almost impossible to avoid his presence.
If you watch North Korean media, it is almost a requirement to praise Kim for everything in life. Watching a press briefing is no different. Karoline Leavitte does not hold anything back when attempting to convince the media Turnip is omnipotent and all-knowing and the right-wing media of course has not fallen for this façade yet and their questions are not even questions, just baseless claims to make the left look bad but that is all to be expected in this climate. The question is, when will we as a nation see around this farce?
