Is it safe to fly and other questions [1]

I used to fly all the time. I flew over a million miles on US Air back in the day. I used to get to the Tampa Bay airport parking lot 30 minutes before my flight and make it on the plane in time. That was before 9-11, of course, and I actually don’t mind getting there 2 hours before any more, but I do hate that they make me take my shoes off and look at me naked in their scan machines, so I don’t fly much anymore.
But my dad is 93 and I haven’t seen him in over a year, so I bought a ticket to go see him in May. And now, for the first time in my over-a-million-air-miles-traveled life, I’m feeling tinges of fear over flying.
My brother-in-law was an air traffic controller. He had a set of skills you can’t just walk into a tech-bro shop and find. He also had stories. I learned from him that one thing I really, really want is competent air traffic controllers on duty when I’m flying.
And now I don’t know if I’ll have that in May when I am scheduled to go to visit my father.
Is it safe to fly?
Is it safe to buy perishables and eat them?
Is the social security application I submitted last week gonna get processed?
Is my health insurance still in effect?
Can Elon Musk delay my tax refund?
Is my expat daughter’s life in danger?
Those are questions that impact my life immediately. All over the country people have different question like these that impact their lives immediately. My plan is to call my US congressperson’s office every day that one of these questions occurs to me and ask them. That’s all, just ask them and see what they say. No argument, no attempt to persuade. Just ask them and see what they say, and then politely end the conversation. I encourage everyone else to do that, too.
