Digital Book Burning - losing non-whyt history [1]

My Mom was a director of a suburban public library system at a time women didn’t really hold that position. I was often there, between babysitters or reading after school, etc.

As a “pick on kid” books, reading books, even as a dyslexic, became my fortress. I have many books and refuse to downsize my collection, some what afraid that some evil force will take them away. My Mom was a long time “read banned books” advocate and the junior and senior highs I attended seemed to mirror that attitude.

I also think the 1966 movie “Fahrenheit 451” had a great long term effect on me.

This is something I have always feared.

Librarians on Tiktok are reporting that digital versions of books their their libraries are disappearing:

What seems to be going missing is non-whyt history. Which is after all white history too, and OUR history.

While we still have paper books, libraries, especially in poorer areas, can have a greater number of titles, at often a cheaper price, digitally.

This is another front we must man.
