McConnell falls down Senate stairs -- then falls again [1]

U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell took a tumble down the steps of the Senate today. According to Newsweek (citing HuffPost and Punchbowl News), “McConnell fell again after being helped to his feet.” Newsweek also reports that the falls resulted in a sprained wrist.

McConnell is 82 (about to turn 83 in two weeks), and has had several episodes of both “freezing” and falling over the past few years, which have been well-documented here and elsewhere. Last November, he announced that he was stepping down as Senate Majority Leader, but that he plans to serve out his term, which runs through 2026.

I will add relevant facts as they come in.

Update: NBC News reports that McConnell is now using a wheelchair. They also quote a spokesman from the Senator’s office who blamed the childhood bout of polio, seemingly avoiding any mention of McConnell’s age or current condition:
