Unabashedly Rural [1]

Well, my daddy left home when I was just sixteen and he didn't leave much to my mom and me, just an old log cabin and some rusty automobiles.
I'm unabashedly rural. Our wells run red with clay. Yeah, we've got two wells. Our (public) road runs unabashedly red with clay, studded with chert rocks (aka flint) and sprinkled with touches of ghostly white gravel from the quarry, which soon becomes tinted red by clay. Wait for the next rainstorm, buddy.
We work jobs in town, me and the wife and kid. I work down in Houston, Texas (County, Missouri) while my wife works down in Impo (also in Texas (County, Missouri)) and my kid works construction with his grandpa when he's not attending highschool.
I used to work construction, but the industry is too wishy-washy. Why, you make good money, but just as soon as you finish one job, it's on to the next. There's no end to the townies and cityfolk who want to build a house on an Ozarks promontory ridge, overlooking some relatively pristine valley that no townie or cityboy has ever trashed before.
Which brings me full circle to my subject matter, which is townies and cityboys who covet the rural lifestyle, while not fully comprehending it in the first place.
Like, just respect mine before you start coveting mine. Leave the dirt alone, leave the forest alone, leave me and my neighbors alone, let us have our old-timey good 'ol boy culture, and we're gonna get along alright, you and me.
