Trump finally learns something: Ukraine aid for rare earth minerals [1]

Trump’s obsession with obtaining natural resources seems to have FINALLY led him to actually learn something: You don’t need to annex or invade a country in order to obtain their natural resources. All you need to do is trade with them.
In this case, the “trade” would be continued US military support for Ukraine’s war effort in exchange for access to Ukraine’s apparently abundant reserves of rare earth minerals.
It’s unfortunate that Trump is only considering supporting Ukraine’s war efforts only because it would result in the US getting some material resource in return, rather than doing it simply because it’s the right thing to do. But this is Donald Trump we’re talking about, so we have to be thankful for any step in the right direction, I suppose.
