So this morning I woke up bright and early (returning to home in Hawaii from the east coast will do that to you), and while I was prepping for my day, I decided to check my various retirement accounts, figuring that TFG’s Saturday tariff tantrums would seriously dent our assets. And sure enough ….. we were down a bunch. Figured par for the course and headed out for some early AM bike riding. A couple of hours later I decided to see how much more things had tanked, but this time when I logged in to check, our losses were significantly less. Since I’d been out riding, I hadn’t heard the news — TFG’s glorious negotiations with Mexico meant that tariffs were off!!! Markets had recovered much of there earlier losses. Hip, hip, hooray!
But that’s when I remembered the kind of crooks we’re dealing with. So — just suppose somebody with a bit of foreknowledge let the markets open, then bought some stock (or did the appropriate options trading) early on …. then waited for the SURPRISE!!!! announcement that — “just kidding — tariffs are off for now”, and then sold what they had just bought on the cheap….
Yeah — that’s kind of against the law and everything …. thus making it that much more likely for this gang.
