Got C-Span? Congressional Democrats are starting to show up! Must-See TV! [1]

Congressional Democrats are starting to resist.
Senator Schumer was joined by Senators Warren, Murray, and Schatz on C-span today to protest Elon Musk getting access to Treasury records. Words like illegal, unlawful and unelected are being thrown around. I can’t find a way to embed it, so try this link.
But wait -there’s more!
Other Congressional Democrats from both the House and the Senate came out to defend the U.S. AID agency. There was a lot of righteous wrath. It was held outside, with an enthusiastic audience watching. Some of the talking points: shutting down USAID will weaken the U.S. around the world. It helps Russia and China. The agency is a ‘soft power’ tool for fighting terrorism. It’s a tiny fraction of the national budget — especially when compared to the Defense budget (and all the government subsidies Elon Musk gets.)

They finished by going into the USAID HQ building to show support for workers and hear from them.
Some observations:
Elon Musk is being painted as a villain here (deservedly so), although Trump did get some of the blame as well. Hey — if Republicans want to let a foreign-born Neo Nazi filthy rich guy treat the government like one of his companies (see this), Musk is really low-hanging fruit. He could easily pass for a Bond villain at this point. It would be political malfeasance not to target him. (Remember how Republicans have made smear campaigns one of their key tactics?)
The second group spoke with more passion and conviction for the camera. (Democrats really need to up their drama skills to communicate effectively.) The stress on illegality, on the usurpation of Congressional budget authority, on the fact that Musk and his people are unelected and dangerous — that was among the messages. There was also some effort into showing why this is important in words that make a plain-spoken case.
And, there was a promise that Democrats in Congress will use every tool at their disposal to block the Trump administration from further crimes.
Why is this happening now? I’m guessing it’s because the switchboards are burning up as Democratic voters register their outrage over how feckless the party has been up to this point. If you haven’t contacted your Congressional delegation yet — DO SO! Keep the pressure up, and praise them for standing up.
Democratic politicians everywhere must continue to keep speaking up — and find ways to reach as many people as possible, as it’s already clear the legacy media will do its best to minimize this. The evening news will likely just feature sound bites — matched with Republican bullshit for ‘balance’.
