The Belt for ADHD? [1]

Senator Tommy Tuberville recently stated that ADHD used to be treated with “the belt” instead of medications. He’s not the first to express this idea. I remember Rush Limbaugh making a similar statement sometime in the 1990’s, when ADHD was still widely thought of as a “children’s” condition. Today, it’s somewhat more widely known that ADHD begins in childhood, but continues for a lifetime.

ADHD is difficult to manage, and I want to keep an open mind about trying anything that could help me. Do I need a prescription to get The Belt®? If so, does the pharmacist take me behind the counter to whip me with it?

Can The Belt® also be used to treat other conditions, such as the Dunning-Kruger Effect? (Asking for a fiend.)
