News from the last few days concerning DOGE at the Treasury and purge at the FBI are getting some well deserved attention.
Most of the actions and actors involved seem to be violating numerous laws in numerous ways. I am not a lawyer so others may want to better inform us.
The legal violations and scale of the actions however, are clear in that authoritarians are testing the limits of what Citizens will allow. This is a basic tactic. The more we fold, the more they're bold.
The entire social contract in our nation is being rewritten right before our eyes.
If Citizens allow it. Things will only get worse very quickly. During the last presidential campaign Trump made two statements that were not taken seriously: he would be a dictator; evangelicals would never have to vote again.
Among all the other absurdities those two statements were promises Citizens ignored They were as revealing as the “ I love the uneducated” statement. Trump Will occasionally inadvertently admit the truth
Trump told us what he would do. He is doing it.
The question today is What Will We Do?
There is no one to save us. No political party, no institution, no Cincinnatus.
We either save ourselves or we don't
