New Day Cafe: Loud Luxury [1]

Good morning, Newdists. I’m writing this on Saturday afternoon, but I’m just going to predict that, by the time you’re reading this: (1) I’m asleep. (2) If I’m not asleep, I’m feeling like shit. Either way, the odds that I’ll be here to host this morning are low, so consider this an open thread (as always). I’ll be back next Sunday!

The reason for the above is that the BF and I went to Dallas for an EDM concert. Usually, when we go to a rave, it’s on Friday night, and we can sleep in the next day and take our sweet time going back to Houston. But since this one is on Saturday night, and the BF has to work on Sunday (sucks for him), we’re driving back immediately after. Meaning that one of us will need to be sober (I vote BF lol).

If this seems insane, it kind of is. But this is all to see one of our favorite DJ duos, Loud Luxury.

Loud Luxury is a Canadian-born, Los Angeles-based international touring dance music duo, composed of Andrew Fedyk and Joe De Pace. The group was formed while attending Western University, where after several independent releases and remixes, their career took off with the smash hit “Body.” The song is certified Diamond in Canada and multi-Platinum across 9 countries, accumulating over 1.5 billion streams across all platforms. Since then, the duo released “Love No More” and “I’m Not Alright” (with Bryce Vine) totaling over 400 million streams. In 2020, they released their debut EP Nights Like This, which was supported by a three-month, 60-show bus tour across the U.S. and Canada. The multiple JUNO Award-winners and iHeart Music Awards nominees released their second EP “Holiday Hills” in 2021. Their latest single with DVBBS (“Next To You”) features country-superstar Kane Brown. They currently hold a Las Vegas residency with TAO Group at OMNIA, Hakkasan, and Wet Republic. In addition, they perform globally at marquee music festivals and venues, and have amassed an engaging social following with viral hits and remixes.

Loud Luxury was kind of my entry point into EDM, so they hold a special place in my heart. Here are some of their singles:

I usually listen to DJ sets, though. And this one is my favorite of all, from a recent show in Calgary. It leans heavily into country, and I love countrified EDM, so I’ve lost track of the number of times I’ve listened to this all the way through. I’m hoping we’ll get some country at the Dallas show!
