More Stupid Shit: Full Court Press Chaos Edition [1]

I recall it being said during the past election cycle that during his first term, Felonious was too much of an ingenue to cause too much harm, but given another shot, he would wreak havoc. We're there and it's just two weeks in.

I am not certain if he has a coherent end state in mind, other than self aggrandisement and enrichment, but that doesn't make his inchoate actions any less destructive. He's far more effective at using the tools at his disposal to sow chaos, destroy the pillars of our liberal democracy, and unravel the rules based order that has brought us unparalleled prosperity. That is the case whether his policies actually come to fruition or not. He has unleashed a flood of performative stupid shit that will not solve the problems they are purported to address, but they will sow confusion and anger, both of which please his base, and cause real harm whether carried out or not.

The cruelty is the point, but so is the choas.

I would like to criticize the Democrats for not being ready for this, but I don't think anyone was. The sheer volume of stupid shit is breathtaking. Civil society organizations are just as responsible for protecting civil society as the political parties, and they seem equally flabbergasted.

At this point many are still in the finger pointing phase. Everybody's yelling at each other, demanding they do something, blaming this one or that one for our predicament, etc. That has to cease. That stage of the grieving process must be left behind.

The election is over. Liberal democracy lost. Whose fault it was is irrelevant to the task at hand.

I was heartened by the teleconference between governors and Schumer. They made it clear his job is to gum up the works, call out the destructive nature of what the Administration is doing. Importantly, he has to highlight the systemic dangers, not the immorality.

But that's just a piece of it, the DC piece. Both the Democratic party and civil society organizations collectively need war rooms that liase. They need lawyers on call to go to bat on everything from enjoining DOGE for compromising personal data, to tariffs, to water rights, to policy changes made without proper administrative review, etc.

We are in it, and it will take more than political activism to win it. People haven't felt the consequences of what's happening yet so outrage is wasted. The outrage will come soon enough.

For now, it will require trench warfare that garners little fanfare.
