Craven Sycophants AKA Republican Congress Members [1]

We, the citizens of the United States, are now trapped in the 5-alarm dumpster fire caused by Donald Trump and his craven, sycophantic Congressional enablers. Un-elected co-president Elon Musk and his illegal DOGE further add fuel to the fire by creepy crawling through our personal files.
Why is this happening?
The pure insanity that defines Trump and his feral need for absolute power is destroying the institutions that underpin our Democratic Republic. The “GOP” members of Congress are pathologically committed to having his back. They are fully engaged in and supportive of the destructive processes we are now witnessing. But why?
My belief is that they fear they are going to be exposed as utter failures when the rubber meets the road later this year as part one of the 2018 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) expires. The bifurcated TCJA was passed purely on a partisan basis. Part one was for the “little guy” taxpayer like you and me. That is the part that expires in 2025. Part two was for corporations and doesn’t expire until 2028 (and the actual corporate tax rate never expires). The claim, when the TCJA passed in 2017, was that the act would pay for itself with increased revenues from new jobs and corporate growth, neither of which truly materialized. In fact, the act increased the deficit and added to the debt. At the expiry date of December 31, 2025, with no extension, the proverbial shit will hit the fan for the average taxpayer. Following is just a small sample of the implications of this expiration:
The marginal tax rates for individuals will revert to pre-TCJA levels, increasing the rate at each level about 3%.
The standard deduction will return to pre-TCJA levels, with an adjustment for inflation
The maximum child tax credit (CTC) will return to $1,000 per child, from the TCJA level of $2,000 and Income thresholds will decrease to $75,000 for individuals and $110,000 for married couples
Why does this matter?
Donald Trump and his Congressional minions claim they are the party of fiscal responsibility. (Of course, one has to ignore the fact that Trump has NEVER taken responsibility for ANYTHING in his life to even discuss this.) If they extend the TCJA, the deficit—and debt—will continue to rise, laying waste to this claim. If they don’t extend the TCJA, the average taxpayer will face increased taxes as a result of the changes above. Adding in Trump’s tariffs, most people will potentially lose an additional 10 to 15% of their income to taxation. We “little guys” pay for the long-term implications of failed Republican policies and a crazy man’s crazy ideas.
The Republican Congressional “wizards” have been exposed as frauds and failures.They have no real answer but to supplicate themselves to Trump and his attack dog(e) Musk for cover as they abdicate their Constitutional duties.
Twenty-two percent of our country voted a derelict, evil-minded fool into office and .00008% of our country (53 Republican senators and 218 Republican representatives) underpins his power. Now all of us are paying a quickly expanding and very steep price.
