We are a friendly and active bunch, our diaries a verdant palate cleanser from the heavier fare in the the world. Please share your stories, anecdotes and photos. Ask questions, or simply introduce yourself. Shout Out to the lurkers too.
This Garden Blog is published every Saturday at 9AM EST, year round. We comment throughout the week and have some funny content for the group each Sunday. Thank you all for stopping by this week and we hope to see you next Saturday as well.

While we think the internet is forever, it really isn’t. Back in late 1995, early 1996, I saw George Carlin in concert, live. In Fairbanks Alaska. It might have been on the campus of the University, but I am not sure. The internet has no record of this, but I can tell you that the internet does miss.
One website says George Carlin only had five concerts in 1995-6. Another lists quite a few more, yet none in Alaska. However, at the end of 1995, he is listed as having events in Washington state, Montana and Cali. So that is likely the timeframe he would have flown up to do a concert in Alaska.
Funny side note. Carlin spent a great deal of time on an pro-choice bit. I was a Republican then, in my early 20’s, and scowled with my arms crossed through the whole thing. I was only a Republican for a few years, thankfully. My Dad was, so that is how I registered. Plus rural red state...you get the picture. The military -and Carlin- opened my mind. And thankfully, I guess (?), I did not take the time to vote until I was an Independent (and eventual Dem). Therefore never actually voting Republican.
Me when I was Republican in the mid-90’s. Apparently even had a red hat. Was probably a college hat or something. This was a boat trip on the Tanana river iirc.
Because information changes and disappears, I’d like to do a diary every year or two to post the most up-to-date garden information. Websites die and the info is lost, unless you want to spend days searching through a Wayback Machine, which I generally do not. Nobody likes a broken link or a 404 page. How about a single diary with some helpful links and a ton of valuable info?

We also prefer to have the most up-to-date information. Per climate change, averages in temperature, Degree Days, soil temp et al are often changing. Garden pests and plants are expanding territory.
A few years ago, Japanese beetles weren’t much a concern where I live. Now I see them almost every year. The habitat of the Spotted Lantern Fly is a serious concern and that little bugger finds new homes quickly. Same with the Emerald Ash Borer. Go Birds!

There was an amazing government website that allowed you to search and find info and maps of invasive species. Funny, it won’t load for me anymore. It loaded fine before January 20th. *cough* In the meantime, search for “[pest] territory map” and click on “images” for habitat maps.

Bonus hidden gem for dahlia, iris and caladium that flies under the radar. My favorite dahlia seller. Hollie at Blue Buddha farms is just the loveliest of people, been purchasing her tubers and bulbs for years. Great thing is she doesn’t do those awful release sales where everything good sells out in 30 seconds. She has some of the prettiest dahlias at reasonable prices. She has dahlias and more available for spring shipping now, including the Labyrinth dahlia, my showstopper. I do not know her personally, just love her little shop. Gotta support small business and all that.

Her iris and caladium items are just gorgeous too! I think she grows all of the varieties. I purchased a mixed bag of white caladium for this spring.

We have the benefit of Master Gardeners who post here, not to mention some growers with a literal half century of growing experience. Questions and Photos Welcomed!
