Jeffries is Right, the Reality Upsetting, but Don't Shoot the Messenger [1]

I remember the House Republican leadership fights last session. Jeffries adopted the wise position of having Democrats do nothing to help Republicans. That's pretty much the only power the minority has in the House.
If the majority is digging itself into a hole, do nothing. Don't make yourselves the story. Watch and warn, not with hysterics either, and if they break their shovel, hand them a new one.
What I find mystifying is how Jeffries became such an overnight lightening rod for simply stating the obvious. Why is that? What is it with some on the left who cannot resist aiding and abetting the perennial right wing project of turning Democratic leaders into bogeymen? Why can't they understand how counterproductive that is?
Take Pelosi. Easily one of, if not the most effective Speakers in my lifetime. Yet there were always some on the left making common cause with rightwing smear campaigns against her. It came as a shock to many how within a fortnite AOC became a fan after working with her. It turns out the smear machine even worked on her until she saw for herself how consumate a leader Pelosi was.
I say this often. It never ceases to amaze me how some reflexively attack Democrats whenever the topic is one of the myriad of cases of atrocious conduct by someone on the right. Equally, it amazes me how in the middle of a rightwing shitshow, some reflexively latch onto some Democrat as the focus of their ire instead. Then they wonder why the right never a pay a price on election day.
You want to gripe about Democrats, then focus on those voting with Republicans. Focus on Senators who fail to use the tools at their disposal to slow down confirmations, legislation, etc. Don't take the facile path of attacking leadership, or Democrats writ large, for the actions of the few either, and certainly don't pretend those Democrats are somehow responsible for the rightwing shitshow underway, nor its consequeces.
Every horror that will result from the trifecta voters, not Democrats, voters gave fascists is on Republicans, and no one else.
